Once your pregnancy is confirmed you are advised to access antenatal pregnancy care. This can be such an exciting but anxious time. At The Birth Company, our Private Midwife is here to ensure that you and your baby are thriving. She can provide you with an abundance of information and professional advice to assist you navigating your pregnancy options, enabling you to confidently make informed choices about your pregnancy and birth.
All women in the UK that are entitled to NHS care have access to a midwife throughout their pregnancy, but at times antenatal appointments may feel quite short. At The Birth Company, our private antenatal appointments are available to support alongside those accessing NHS pregnancy care, private pregnancy care, those accessing both NHS and private care or those planning to deliver overseas. Appointments can be booked online at a convenient time for you and your partner, with short notice and same day appointment availability. Your private midwife consultation will last approximately 60 minutes, giving you time to discuss your pregnancy in a relaxing environment. Your partner is welcome to accompany you to your appointments, giving them the opportunity to be involved and ask questions too.
We offer a range of private midwife consultations, these appointments can be booked individually for your flexibility, or as a package. The Birth Company offer two Private Midwife Antenatal Care Packages which include antenatal appointments, specified blood tests, a detailed early anatomy scans by our specialist sonographer and a postnatal appointment during the first 28 days after the birth to ensure you and baby are recovering well and thriving.

- Our private midwife appointments are 60 minutes. We offer longer appointment times to ensure that you have the time you need to discuss any of your concerns.
- Partners are welcome to attend appointments with you.
- Appointments times convenient to you and usually available at short notice on the same day.
Midwives are experts at caring for women during pregnancy and we want to provide you with support and evidenced based information along your journey to parenthood. Please note that you must be booked with the NHS or a private hospital by 16 weeks of pregnancy alongside private care. If you are recommended to have Consultant Care during your pregnancy, our midwife consultations are available to complement this.
The following are reasons why you may be referred for consultant care:
Previous pregnancy:
- Pre-Eclampsia
- HELLP
- Hypertension
- Obstetric Cholestasis
- Consultant led care
- Low birth weight
- Previous gynaecological surgery
Previous significant medical history such as:
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- First degree relative with Diabetes (Mother/Father/Siblings)
- Endocrine disorders such as Hyper / Hypothyroidism
- Any blood disorders such as Thalassaemia/Sickle cell
At The Birth Company in Wimpole Street, London we offer morning, afternoon and evening availability for your Private Midwife Consultation during the week. A surcharge will be applied for evening appointments. We have a wide range of availability therefore same day appointments can be easily arranged. Our Private Midwife is here to reassure even at short notice.
Cancellation Policy
For cancellations, a full refund of your appointment fee will be given with 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice of cancellation is given, a £50 cancellation fee will be applied. Our full terms and conditions can be found here: Terms and Conditions
