Director of Ultrasound
Kate studied the BSC Degree in Diagnostic Radiography at City University, London. After qualifying, Kate gained five years diagnostic experience at a premier acute NHS hospital. She continued her studies with an ultrasound training position and completed the PG Diploma in Medical Ultrasound at City University.After 8 years working for the NHS Kate took some time to travel, before working as a locum sonographer throughout London hospitals and private clinics. Kate is accredited with the Health Professionals Council and is certified with the Fetal Medicine Foundation. She has recently extended her qualification to a Master’s Degree in Medical Ultrasound focusing on Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (including Harmony and Panorama).
Carmel trained as a nurse at King’s College Hospital and as a midwife at St. George’s Hospital, London, qualifying in 1990. Her interest in ultrasound let her to undertake a Masters degree in clinical ultrasound, which she completed in 2000. Carmel is highly experienced in all aspects of obstetric ultrasound, having worked as a midwife sonographer at The Harris Birthright Centre at King’s College Hospital for the last 17 years. She lives in South west London with her husband and two children.
Helen Joined The Birth Company in December 2013. She started her career as a radiographer in 1994 obtaining her degree in diagnostic radiography at Canterbury Christchurch College and she went on to train as a sonographer at Southbank University, London. Helen is highly experienced in all aspects of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and general ultrasound having spent the last 15 years at Medway Hospital in Kent, working alongside The Kings Fetal Medicine Department. She is proficient in 4D Ultrasound and is HPC registered and certified in the Fetal medicine Foundation for Nuchal Translucency screening.
